Thankful Times Two

On March 31, 2009 Spencer received a call at work from Whitney. She though she might need to go to the hospital. Spencer rushed home from work, of course obeying the speed limit, and picked up Whitney, Cortney, Logan and Riley. We dropped off Logan and Riley at a friends house and headed to the hospital.

When we arrived, at 3:30 p.m., the nurse checked Whitney and she was dilated to 5 cm and 100% effaced. Finally, we would get to stay at the hospital! Whitney was very happy that we weren't going home like the 3 previous times we went to the hospital.

Whitney was relieved to find out that a friend was able to rearrange her schedule so that she could be Whitney's labor and delivery nurse. It was very comforting for her to know the nurse that would be helping her get through this.

Whitney was moved into the operating room at about 10:30. Her doctor wanted the delivery to be in the operating room in the likely event that a C-Section became necessary.  At 10:54 p.m. Colbie was born and shortly after at 11:01 p.m. Ethan was born. It was amazing, to say the least.

Colbie went to the nursery and was checked and bathed and went straight back to Mom. Ethan had to stay a little bit longer because he breathed in a little fluid on his way out and so he needed a little extra help. He was on oxygen for about twelve hours and an IV for about 28 hours. We were all able to go home healthy 48 hours after arriving at the hospital.

We are so thankful for the great doctor, labor and delivery nurse, pediatrician, and staff at the hospital. Everything went as good as we could have hoped. We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for the wonderful people who have helped us along our journey. We are grateful for all of your prayers, support, and all of the food and babysitting from friends at church.

We also can't thank Whitney's mom, Cortney, enough for staying with us since March 5th. She has been so much help. Thanks again to everyone who has helped in any way, we appreciate you all.

The picture below is Whitney at the hospital a few hours before the twins came. She was exactly thirty-six weeks along.
(Whitney didn't want me to use this picture, but I really like it, so I used it anyway.  Love you Whitney.)

Home At Last
Logan and Riley are both so happy to have two new babies in our home.
They both want to help out by holding, feeding, and loving the twins.

Since we promised 8 month pictures, we thought we should post them. We know the wrapping paper isn't quite as exciting after you have already opened your presents. So here they are.

33 weeks

and...

35 weeks (which is about 8 months)

I'm glad that you finally got the pictures up. Whitney, don't worry about the picture, you look beautiful! I don't even think you looked very big to be having twins. The babies are so gorgeous. I hope they are good for you. Keep the pictures coming.

Mom showed me some more recent photos and I can't believe how much Ethan looks like Logan did. Cute kids! I hope you are surviving them.
